Straight answers
A fractional data team is an outside team doing the work of an in-house data department — modeling, pipelines, BI reports, machine learning — for a fraction of the cost of hiring an analyst, an engineer and a BI developer. You get the capability without the headcount, and you scale it up or down by the month. For most companies under a few hundred people, it's the only version of a data team that the budget actually supports.

Usually yes. Most “Power BI is slow and nobody trusts it” problems come from the model, not the tool — flat imported tables, measures duplicated across reports, no clear grain. We audit first and tell you honestly whether it's worth repairing or rebuilding.
Yes — Power BI with DAX and Power Query, SQL Server with SSIS, SSAS and SSRS, plus Azure SQL, Data Factory and Synapse. We also work in PostgreSQL, BigQuery and Python where those fit better, and we'll say so if they do.
No. Every engagement ends with documentation, a handover session, and full ownership of the code and models on your side. Retainers exist because some clients want them, not because we engineered a hostage situation.
